Did You Miss Injectable Day? Here’s How to Attend Future Events

The first Injectable Day of 2020 took place in February and it was a great success!
Injectable Day is a one-day event held in the cosmetic services department on the second floor of Eye Medical Center’s Herndon Avenue location. New and returning patients are encouraged to try out Botox and fillers at a reduced rate, and to consult with a skin care analyst who can identify problem areas and recommend products.
Injectable Day is organized by cosmetic coordinator Carol Chapa, who has been putting together events like this for close to four years. The department holds two Injectable Day events a year, one each for our two Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery specialists, Harinder S. Chahal, M.D., and Maziar Bidar, M.D. If you’ve been a patient of Eye Medical Center for awhile, you may have heard of, or even attended, a Beauty Day event in the past. Injectable Day differs from that event in that patients schedule appointments ahead of time to see the doctor, who performs the requested service on the day of the event.

Dr. Harinder Chahal and our knowledgeable and welcoming staff are available to help you with a wide range of cosmetic questions and concerns. Injectable Day is a great way to learn about everything we have to offer.
Injectable Day Allows You to Try out Cosmetic Services
According to Carol, most of the people who attend Injectable Day are new patients, or even first-timers who have never tried Botox or fillers before. They find out about the event through word-of-mouth, usually through friends who are patients or staff that work in the building, or through social media or email blasts. This is a good way for them to see if they like the services, the staff, and the doctors, especially if they’re nervous or have concerns about trying a new-to-them procedure.
“Everyone, when they’re new, they’re nervous,” said Carol. “We want to make patients feel comfortable from the moment they walk in, so when our nurses take them to the back and check them in, and they’ll express themselves, ‘I’m a little nervous,’ we tell them, ‘I got it done, this is how it feels.’ You want to educate them on the procedure before the doctor comes in, so they’re nice and calm when he walks in. And the doctors are great, too. They’ll calm them down. But everyone’s nervous when they’re getting their first Botox or their first fillers!”
Jovita Gonzales was one of those nervous patients. This month’s Injectable Day was her first time trying out Botox, which she’d been thinking about doing for awhile. Jovita is a patient of Dr. Bidar’s—she’s seen him for blepharoplasty surgery on her eyelids—but she’d never met Dr. Chahal before. “I was so nervous about it. I thought, ‘Oh, it’s going to be so painful,'” she said. “It was nothing! Nothing like I thought. And Dr. Chahal was wonderful. I was kind of leery about coming to another doctor but it was wonderful, a wonderful experience.”
A Variety of Cosmetic Procedures Are Available—Not Just Eyes
It may come as a surprise that Eye Medical Center of Fresno offers more than ophthalmology and optometry services. We also offer a wide selection of rejuvenation procedures including eyelid, forehead and brow lifts, injectables (Botox & fillers), Kybella, Latisse (for thinning eyelashes), chemical peels, fat grafting, laser hair removal, and much more.
“We do not only injectables, but we have a registered nurse who does lasers to resurface the skin, for hair removal, and for little, red broken capillaries,” said Carol. “Also, I’m the esthetician here, so I do cosmetic consultations on the products when the skin care rep isn’t here. I’ve been an esthetician for 20 years, so I educate patients on it and also do skin care treatments.”
At the Injectable Day events, patients are encouraged to meet with skin care consultant Suleika Bauer, who uses Reveal Imager technology to give an in-depth analysis of their facial skin care needs. Also during the event, Obagi products—the primary skin care product used by our office—are offered at 25% off, which is another great incentive for those wanting to try out a new skin care routine.
“A lot of new patients who come here for the first time think Eye Medical Center is just for eyes. But when they walk through our door, we educate them on everything that we do and introduce them to all of our services. Once they get to learn who we are and what we have to offer, they remain our patients, which is great!”
How to Attend Future Injectable Day and Beauty Day Events
So, after her first Botox experience, is Jovita Gonzales planning to attend future events? “Oh yes, absolutely!” she said. “As a matter of fact, I want to come back to do Botox for my crow’s feet. I just wanted to take baby steps this time.”
