About
Susan Mencarini grew up in Sacramento and received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from Southern California College of Optometry in 1988. She joined the Eye Medical Center in 1989.
She is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, Central California Optometric Society (where she served as it’s first women president in 1994), Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, and is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
She is married to optometrist Jay Newsome; and they have two boys, Nicholas and Cameron.
In addition to her involvement with her son’s activities, she is member of the Fresno Community Concert Band, St. Therese Parish, St. Anthony’s Italian Catholic Federation, and the Just Us Girls Triathlon Club.
In her remaining spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, and cooking.
