Laser Blepharoplasty

The Cosmetic specialists at Eye Medical Center of Fresno are always looking to provide our patients with the best care possible for their Esthetic concerns.  Adapting to new techniques and evolving with new technology is an essential part of our commitment to great patient care.  One of those advancements is Laser-Assisted Blepharoplasty, which is currently being used by Dr Mazi Bidar in the Oculofacial and Plastics Department.  EMC is proud to have the only facial specialist in the region who use the laser instead of older methods for eyelid surgery.
What is Laser-Assisted Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a procedure that reduces droopy or sagging skin around the eyelids, or bulging and puffiness under the eyes.

To correct this problem, Dr. Bidar performs Laser-Assisted Blepharoplasty, which enlists the help of a highly sophisticated machine to perform both upper and lower eyelid sculpting. This machine uses a 0.2mm incisional laser beam to cut and remove tissue with minimal bleeding.  It is also a skin tightening machine that performs wrinkle and skin discoloration reduction.

Benefits of Laser-Assisted Blepharoplasty

What are the benefits of using a laser versus a traditional blade? Laser technology is far more advanced than metal blade or scissors in terms of precision. It also cauterizes blood vessels as it cuts, resulting in less bleeding and bruising after surgery.

In addition, the laser has 600 settings tailored to various skin types with different severities of wrinkles or skin discoloration, so it is used to tighten and resurface the loose skin overlying the under eye bags.

The entire procedure for laser-assisted upper or lower eyelid surgery can be performed at once or at different times according to your preference.  So far,  Mazi Bidar MD have used the laser on over 20,000 eyelids to great satisfaction, and they are excited to be able to share this advanced technology with their patients.
